Their Stories
Rain- Rain was picked up by Kera our Manager and one of our boarders Amy D. on April 29th, 2023- Rain came in super emaciated, malnourished, injured and scared of life itself. We shortly after Rain's arrival found out that she was FULL TERM PREGNANT on top of her numerous medical complications we at the farm were already battling. After giving birth Rain developed mastitis with in 36 hours of delivery and rejected her baby and was mentally battling between her survival instincts that she has developed in the year prior being passed around between kills pens prior to being saved by Amy D. Amy and Kera formed a plan of action to make Rain's future the best and brightest it could be! Rain now is enjoying her life being a chunky, loving, energetic, cookie loving and, athletic little lady! With Amy D's daughter now riding Rain an figuring out Rain's new purpose! This gorgeous girl wouldn't be where she is today with out the love, support, time and energy from every here at Grandview Farms! We give a huge Thank You to Amy D. for taking the risk we all take when getting horses from Kill Pens and never giving up on giving her the best future! It truly does take a village!
Ripley- Ripley is the offspring of one of our boarding residences Rain. Ripley was a surprise to everyone once we learned her mother was pregnant. We didn't know how long her mother was pregnant or what shape Ripley would be in once she was delivered. Ripley was delivered on June 1st, 2023, while spending her first 36 hours with her mom their relationship quickly changed when Rain developed mastitis. Ripley quickly turned in a bottle baby that Kera would feed every hour- all hours of the day and night. Kera was told by four different vets that Ripley's survival outlook was grim with her being so young, and malnourished in utero. With coordination between vets and Kera, Ripley is thriving, growing and developing!
Onyx- Onyx is with us through one of our partnerships and she is recuperating from knee chips in both fronts. Onyx's prognosis was great with an extensive rehab. While being a big and powerful 17 hand, 4 year old her life before coming in was waking up and performing a job, to her dismay the rehab plan didn't allow for much wiggle room for her to kick her heels up and exert the energy she was so used to expelling. Kera was quick to her feet in devising a plan to keep her on track with her rehab while keeping the brain and body of an OTTB working and engaged! Onyx has gotten her full clean bill of health and placed with her forever home, thanks to the hands at Grandview Farms Equestrian Center for taking their time putting this gorgeous girl back together!
Sunny- Sunny came to us on July 10th, 2025 in rough shape. Severely underweight scoring a 1.5 on the Equine Body Score Chart by our local Equine Nutritionist. Not really knowing what was was up he was a shell of the horse he has the possibilities of being. When he came in we jumped to work on regrowing a positive relationship with people and giving him appropriate nutrition! As of August 19th, 2025 he has put on 100lbs and is starting some light work to help build up some muscle and is THRIVING!
